Malaysia's Internet Sensations Battle it out for DiGi WWWOW Internet for All Awards
Last chance to vote for Malaysia's favourite Internet sensations
SHAH ALAM, 10 May 2012 - Malaysia's favourite music parodies, short films, cute babies, podcasts and at least one marriage proposal are among the contenders battling it out for a coveted DiGi WWWOW Award this year. With public voting closing this Sunday, 13 May 2012 Malaysia's top talents in video, social media, digital content and web commerce have just a few more days to win the public's votes.
With the launch of YouTube Malaysia this year and the growing popularity of smartphones making video-making easier than before, this year's DiGi WWWOW Awards has not one but two Video categories attracting a total of 160 video entries.
Visitors to the award website wwwow.my will probably recognise some of the most watched viral hits of 2011/2012 including JinnyBoy TV's hilarious homage to school days "My Generasi", TwitterJayaTV's Malaysianised music video parody (of LMFAO's Moves Like Jagger) entitled "Lembu Nak Jaga", and "Meme Proposal", a marriage proposal that hit 3 million views and was even covered by international press. These YouTube giants will compete for votes alongside equally inspiring home-made films by students, housewives, proud parents and webcam-owners; many of which are attracting a wider audience through being part of the WWWOW Awards.
Winners will be unveiled in June 2012 with over RM200,000 worth of prizes at stake including cash, flight tickets, smart devices, pre-loaded debit cards and many more.
"This year, the WWWOW entries just rock. We couldn't be prouder and we can't wait to see who finally clinches each of the 16 awards this year. If you've any doubt that Malaysians are every bit as talented as online innovators anywhere else in the world, just go check out wwwow.my. If you already have a favourite, now's the time to vote!" said Sulin Lau, DiGi's Head of Marketing Services.
Just like last year, the public will have a say in all categories, except for The Best of the Best category, which will be decided by the panel judges that include leading industry authorities. After public voting ends on 13 May 2012, the votes will be tallied together with the votes by the panel of expert judges.
