DiGi introduces 014 6xx xxxx
New prefix numbers to meet increasing demand

SHAH ALAM, 21 March 2006 - From today, DiGi is introducing a new numbering prefix - 014 6xx xxxx - to meet surging growth in new subscribers.

The new numbering prefix applies to both DiGi Prepaid and DiGi Postpaid.

It offers the same starter-pack pricing, the same charges, the same quality of service and coverage and the same benefits as 016.

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd Chief Marketing Officer Chee Pok Jin said: "Everything that a 016 prefix number enjoys will be accorded to 014 6xx xxxx subscribers."

On the new 014 6xx xxxx prefix, Chee said DiGi will soon run out of 016 prefix numbers due to increasing demand for DiGi Prepaid and DiGi Postpaid.

"This is a natural phenomenon as more consumers seek innovative and exciting products and services that are easy to use, effective, efficient and affordable," he said.

Chee said: "We want to be able to satisfy their needs almost immediately and uninterrupted. It is, therefore, important for DiGi to be ready with ample supply of SIM Packs."

Chee thanked the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for recognizing and appreciating this need. "The allocation of the new 014 6xx xxxx prefix numbers demonstrates an MCMC that is responsive to industry situation and requirements."

With the new prefix, a DiGi subscriber calling a DiGi subscriber will have to use the prefix 016 xxx xxxx or 014 6xx xxxx as per the receiver's prefix number.

The new prefix numbers are allocated according to geographical regions and demand and supply of a particular region. The new prefix will be available in all regions of Malaysia over the next six weeks.

In addition to new prefix numbers, DiGi will continue with its routine recycling of terminated 016 numbers within a month of their termination.

DiGi recently reported higher revenue of RM2.88 billion for the financial year ended 31 December 2005, up 29% from RM2.23 billion the previous year.

Customer base for prepaid and postpaid jumped 48% to 4.8 million as at 31 December 2005, with 608,000 new SIMPack activations.

The strong growth in revenue, customer base and profitability is the direct result of the various promotions in 2005 and the momentum created by the 10th anniversary campaign for both DiGi Prepaid and DiGi Postpaid.
