SUBANG JAYA, 21 MAY 2020 ā€“ Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) is partnering with KupiKupi FM, a local Sabahan radio station to bring ā€˜Kita-Kita Juga Bainiā€™, the Digital Kaamatan Festival to life through a whole month of festivities including live performances, singing competitions, and great deals for customers.

Despite social distancing guidelines that requires festivals to be celebrated in a different way this year, ā€˜Kita-Kita Juga Bainiā€™, will bring all Sabahans together to celebrate Kaamatan, a festival that is known to be strong in heritage and unity.

To start off the joyous month, Digi is kicking off the Digital Kaamatan Festival with the song ā€œKita-Kita Juga Bainiā€, which was released on 18 May. Named after a common phrase among Sabahans that means ā€œItā€™s all about us, after allā€, the song celebrates how the rich heritage, diverse cultures and love for food and music unites all Sabahans. The song comes with a fun music video that showcases the true essence of Sabahans by showing locals of all ages and races coming together to dance along to a simple routine. The video is available HERE.

Kaamatan is a time for harvest and appreciation, and food is certainly the best way to reach the hearts of the locals. From 21st to 31st May. Digi customers can purchase RM5 GrabFood vouchers at a discounted price of only RM0.99 from MyDigi app, giving them the chance to enjoy a bountiful feast of their favourite local dishes together with their family from the safety of their homes. The latest version of the MyDigi app can be downloaded from the Apple App store or the Google Playstore.

Digi and KupiKupi FM also gave locals a chance to shine with the Digi KupiStar Singing Contest with a prize pool totalling up to RM6,800. From 13th to 19th May, the contest encouraged locals to showcase their talents and record two videos of them singing Kadazandusun songs. Fans of KupiKupi FM will then vote for their favourite KupiStar and keep the spirit of the traditional singing contests Sugandoi alive. The submission with the most vote will be as the winner and it will be announced on 31st May 2020. For those who have not voted for their favourite singer, you can still do so HERE.

The Kaamatan Festival will culminate with a bang with ā€˜Kita-kita Juga Baini Dengan Rangkaian Terbesar di Sabahā€™ digital live performances on 30th and 31st May featuring the hottest local artists such as Velvet Aduk, Rich Gimbang, Queennera, Felix Agus and many more. This 4-hour across 2 days digital extravaganza will be livestreamed from 1pm to 3pm via KupiKupi FM and Digiā€™s Facebook pages.
