Largest Petition Banner to Facebook unveiled in bid to make Malaysia the Facebook Capital of the World

PETALING JAYA, 6 MAY 2011: In response to an international TNS survey that identified Malaysians with the most Facebook friends, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") has organised a grassroots movement to petition Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg acknowledge Malaysia as the official "Facebook Capital of the World".

DiGi unveiled a three-storey high (1,656 sq feet) petition banner with the message "MAKE MALAYSIA THE FACEBOOK CAPITAL OF THE WORLD" at the DiGi Live Facebook Party for All tonight held in 1 Utama Shopping Centre. The banner was composed of over 25,000 Facebook profile photos of supporters who pledged their support in the petition.

"That's why we wanted to kick-off this movement to unite all Malaysian Facebook users as a fun way to celebrate this uniquely Malaysian Facebook culture. And of course, remind people that whether they Facebook a little or a lot; whether you're young or old; DiGi offers the most number of ways to stay connected to your Facebook life through any device or broadband plan."

Co-hosted by 1 Utama Shopping Center, DiGi Live Facebook Party for All was attended by some 600 of the 25,000 Facebook users who downloaded and shared the "DiGi Facebook for All" app. Those who pledged their Facebook profile photo and message on Facebook, and then shared the app with the largest number of people received two (2) party passes each.

The Facebook-themed party included fun analog versions of popular Facebook activities such as the super pokes, a Farmville area, a CityVille Bar, analog Status updates, Real Photo Tagging, a "Wall", and many others.
