First in Malaysia to offer free mobile surfing via DiGiLIVE Zero
Free mobile internet connection to listed sites when browsing via DiGi-Opera Mini platform
Shah Alam, 16 October 2011: True to its mission to deliver Internet For All, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") has developed a special portal, DiGiLIVE Zero to encourage more people across Malaysia to enjoy mobile internet for free when surfing on the Opera Mini browser. This makes DiGi the first mobile operator in Malaysia to offer free mobile surfing via Opera Mini to selected sites every month.
Customers can browse the sites listed on DiGiLIVE Zero without the need to pay data charges. The sites reflect the many different interests of customers to further enrich their mobile internet experience and encourage them to use the browser platform.
The DiGi-Opera Mini browser has a unique compression technology that allows users up to 90% faster surfing experience. This enables customers, including non-smartphone users, to enjoy the full mobile internet experience at a faster and more cost-efficient rate. DiGi was the first operator in Malaysia to introduce co-branded Opera Mini browser in March 2011. As of today, DiGi has recorded the highest number of Opera Mini users in Malaysia.
On DiGiLive Zero, customers can search for the best daily deals in gift ideas, restaurants and holiday getaways from group buying sites listed such as DealMates, Hahah Deals, I Love Discounts and MilkADeal. In conjunction with the Chinese New Year, there are also links to learn more about the Chinese Zodiac signs and Feng Shui for 2012. All these sites are now accessible for free via DiGiLive Zero from 16 January to 31 March 2012.
"We believe that it is important to constantly review our offerings to stay relevant to our customers. It also fulfills our ambition to deliver Internet For All by making it easier for people to enjoy better surfing experience. In appreciation for our customers' support in helping us reach the top position, DiGi will be updating DiGiLIVE Zero with different 'flavours' of free sites from time to time. This, we are confident, will encourage more people to enjoy mobile internet easily," explains Praveen Rajan, Head of Internet & Services in DiGi.
Customers can download the DiGi-Opera Mini browser directly to their phones from http://m.opera.com or SMS "OPERA" to 2000 for the download link. To check the free sites listing, please visit www.digi.com.my/Digilivezero
