Lundal: The Penang new office is breathing the DiGi values
PENANG , 15 September 2006 - DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd is making changes to the way the workplace should be when it officially opened its northern regional office in Gelugor here tonight.
DiGi spent RM1.5 million to transform 9,000-square feet office space into a showcase icon for its key values, being simplicity, innovation and best value.
It is the first regional office to be modeled after D'House, DiGi's corporate headquarters in Shah Alam.
DiGi Chief Executive Officer Morten Lundal said: “At D'House, we try to harmonise building, technology and people to live our brand values and bring out the best in our people.”
He added: “A building is just a building but it is the energy within it that makes the difference. Soon all our regional offices will be modeled on D'House and express the same corporate values.”
DiGi celebrated the opening with a house-warming party for 200 staffs and guests, thrilling them with non-stop entertainment at the E-Gate Commercial Centre in Lebuh Kudin 2.
DiGi's CelebriTeen champion Ray Cheong and Rebecca Ch'ng, dubbed Penang's “Vanessa Mae”, mesmerised the crowd with their repertoires.
Lundal entertained the crowd when he and Ray strummed the guitar with a rendition of Time to Change, a song written by Lundal.
Lundal said Penang is an important growth area for DiGi. “We expect even stronger potential given the state's strategic position in the Northern Economic Corridor.”
The Northern Economic Corridor covering Kedah, Perlis, Seberang Perai and Northern Perak has huge potential for commercial agriculture, agro-based industries, high technology industries as well as tourism.
It is among three growth corridors identified by the Government for development to reduce growth imbalance between regions and between urban and rural areas.
Likewise, Lundal added, DiGi as a communications solutions provider is in a strong position to contribute to the growth cluster that the northern region represents.
