KOTA KINABALU, 22 February 2018 - Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) has released 'Journey To a Reunion', a video to showcase what it means to be family, in light of the Chinese New Year celebrations for this year.

The narrative in the video underlines the fact that family is what we make of the relationships around us. Beyond the traditional definition of family, there are also those who have left such an impact upon our lives that they are considered family. The care and affection shown by such a person demonstrates that the definition of family can go beyond blood ties.

For many of us, family is the most important thing around the time of festivities. It is a time for coming together and strengthening relationships with loved ones. Digi’s Chinese New Year video provides a new take on reunions and family by reuniting a Chinese school teacher and her students, many of which have been inspired and touched by her.

Madam Chuang, a one of a kind teacher, from Kota Kinabalu is the unsung hero in this story. She lived her vocation as a teacher with love and compassion. This is witnessed through the testimonials of her students in the video. To all of them she was more than a teacher. She was family.

Digi's Head of Region for Sabah, Melvin Yap said, "Connecting people to what matters most has always been at the centre of what we do at Digi. This Chinese New Year we were inspired by the story of Madam Chuang who played the role of mentor, teacher, friend and family to many of her students. We hope that the story of Madam Chuang and her students will motivate more Malaysians to reconnect with the important people that have shaped their lives."

The video Journey to a Reunion can be viewed at https://youtu.be/cAdhHSouBm4. Since its debut on February 8th, the video has been viewed more than 608,000 times on Digi’s Youtube channel and over 585,000 times on Facebook (as at 20th February 2018).

Digi continues to leverage on its strong infrastructure base to bring a comprehensive range of internet and digital offerings to Malaysians nationwide. Digi’s consistent, high speed 4G LTE network today reaches 87% of Malaysians in 300 cities and major towns while its faster LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network covers 55% of populated areas in the country covering 130 cities and towns (as at 31 Dec 2017).

On 1 July 2017, Digi switched on its new 900MHz spectrum, bringing the telco's consistent, high speed 4G Plus network to more rural areas of Malaysia. In Sabah specifically, Digi’s consistent 4G LTE network now reaches 76.5% of Malaysian in 34 cities and major towns while Digi’s LTE-A coverage serves 46% of Malaysian in 20 cities and major towns.
