DiGi ranked Top Performer in Malaysia by Carbon Disclosure Project 2011
Reflects companies' commitment towards sustainable practices as part of business strategy

Kuala Lumpur, 11 January 2011: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi) was ranked No.1 in Malaysia in the recent Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) 2011 report, recognized for integrating its carbon disclosure and reduction activities as a key part of its business strategy. It was also ranked No. 5 in the 'Asia, excluding Japan-India-China-Korea' category.

The report was released by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an independent non-profit organization holding the largest database of primary major corporations' climate change information in the world.

The paper examined the measurements and strategies of greenhouse gas emissions, water use and climate change of over 3,000 organizations across the world's major economies, in order that carbon reduction targets can be set and performance improvements can be made across the globe.

According to the report, DiGi's score of 81 points was in the higher end of the Carbon Disclosure Scale compared to the baseline of 70 points. This indicated that the management team understood the business issues related to climate change, and are building activities to manage emissions into the business. Additionally, the "B" ranking denotes that the integration of these activities was recognized as a key priority for DiGi's business strategy.

"This award shows that our efforts to build a sustainable business are recognized globally and we are on par with our Asian counterparts in this respect. To-date, we are one of only two Malaysian companies that have disclosed carbon emissions for 2011, and this clearly indicates that DiGi is leading the way in diligently reporting and managing carbon savings in Malaysia," said Zaiton Hj.Idrus, DiGi's Head of Corporate Affairs.

"For us, being 'green' makes good business sense, and we have progressed well since we launched Deep Green three years ago, with many of the initiatives introduced at the onset still in practice today. Moving forward, our aspiration is to continue integrating relevant environmentally-friendly features into our business, applying environmental considerations wherever practical."

DiGi has been disclosing carbon emissions measurements and targets under our Deep Green programme to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2010.
