DiGi Pumps-Up Youth Expression with 'Free Your Ideas' Facebook Contest
DiGi to fly three winners to Bangkok showcase on 5 November

SHAH ALAM, 25 OCTOBER 2010: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") is dialing it up on the youth frequency with its latest platform, 'Free Your Ideas' Facebook contest, giving away a total of RM60,000 over the next six weeks.

From 20 October 2010 to 30 November 2010, youths nationwide are encouraged to rally together and voice their passion for an idea, aspiration or social cause. The project with the most votes stands a chance to be seed-funded by DiGi.

"Youths today are so much more aware of themselves and the community at large, putting a lot of energy in what they believe in. We have created a platform to enable them to freely express their interest in a fresh and exciting way that can inspire their peers to follow in their footsteps," said Moharmustaqeem Mohammed, DiGi's Head of Segments.

The unique entries received to-date exhibit the wide range of youth passion points that include championing social causes. "Some of the entries received are quite noble and inspiring, for example, building a hostel for kids in a rural school to save them from walking through rivers and miles from their homes. This shows how socially aware of others' needs our youths are," Mohar explained.

At the other end of the spectrum, there are some entries that look at fulfilling personal aspirations. For instance, three best friends have mooted the idea to have one last skydiving adventure together before parting ways to further their studies.

"These are the type of exceptional entries we look forward to receiving in the next few weeks. We are excited to hear more of what defines the youth community and energise those expressions through this facebook contest," Mohar concluded.

This idea was inspired by the Buddyzâ„¢ feature from DiGi's latest youth pack, DiGi Easy Prepaid. To bring the Buddyzâ„¢ theme to life, the contest is open to groups of two to four youths between 13 to 30-years-old. Each week, DiGi is granting up to RM10,000 to the team that generates the most votes for their idea.
