DiGi counters stay open till midnight
Every effort taken to register customers

SHAH ALAM, 14 December 2006: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd is keeping its registration counters in 160 shopping complexes nationwide open until the last customer present is registered today and tomorrow.

"We extended opening hours to midnight but remained open to register every DiGi Prepaid customers who turned up," said M.T. Arjun, DiGi's head of prepaid registration task force.

Arjun said this extended-hour service will continue tomorrow (Friday). "We want to be ready to cope with last-hour rush by those who have yet to register."

Under a government directive, all prepaid mobile lines must be registered by 15 December. Unregistered prepaid mobile lines will be suspended for two weeks and subsequently deactivated if they are still not registered by then.

Prepaid customers of deactivated lines risk losing their mobile phone numbers and the remaining value in their SIM card forfeited.

Arjun said, "Every effort is taken to make it easier and more convenient for prepaid users to meet the deadline so that they can enjoy continuous service."

DiGi recently hired another 100 staff, increasing its human resources specifically for prepaid registration to 400. All this is in addition to registrations at 12,000 DiGi dealers and outlets across the country.

DiGi has also sent out mobile registration teams to homes in selected housing schemes day and night. They also visited more than 600 kongsi nationwide to register foreign workers.

DiGi deployed a total of 2,000 hand-held terminals and have installed registration software at 2,000 PCs at dealer outlets in its effort to register 5.1 million DiGi Prepaid customers.

"So far the response from prepaid customers is in line with industry targets," said Arjun.

DiGi had also sent out SMS to customers who have yet to register. "After the deadline, we will focus on getting everyone of our customers who for some reasons failed to register."

DiGi customers can register at any authorised DiGi Dealers Shell, Petronas and BHP petrol kiosks and Pos Malaysia offices nationwide. They can also use Maybank2U, CIMB and RHB online portals to register.

Registered DiGi customers get to enjoy benefits and privileges from DiGi Rewards such a Special Registration Bonus Talktime, 50% Birthday Bonus, SIM Guard, VIP invites to special events and free movie passes.

Arjun said DiGi wishes to thank the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications for their full support.

DiGi, besides its own initiatives, collaborated with other industry players and the government on prepaid registration, including setting up multi-registration counters at shopping complexes and office.
