DiGi collaborates with Chartis to introduce DiGi Travel Protection Plan
An easy and affordable way to purchase travel insurance via mobile phone

Kuala Lumpur, 7 JULY 2011: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") in partnership with Chartis Malaysia Insurance Berhad ("Chartis") today launched DiGi Travel Protection Plan - a basic travel insurance that offers coverage for medical expenses due to illness, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation due to accident and baggage delay for its customers.

DiGi customers will be able to subscribe to the Plan via easy and hassle-free SMS. They can opt to activate the Plan prior to leaving Malaysia or within 4 hours upon arrival at an overseas destination. Its low premium ranges from RM9 to RM20, depending on duration of the plan and is enhanced by a simple claim process where DiGi Travel Protection Plan subscribers would only need to submit the completed claim form together with the relevant documents.

DiGi's Head of Strategy and Business Transformation, Christian Thrane said the Travel Protection Plan was a natural extension to DiGi's existing insurance portfolio that includes General and Takaful PA. "DiGi has always been about providing value-added services to our customers that are relevant and affordable. Together with Chartis, we are making travel insurance easily available to all our customers and purchase of this service convenient via use of the mobile phone."

"The Travel Protection plan is also part of our efforts to extend the line of our insurance offerings and benefits to customers at affordable premium fee. Currently, we are seeing a double digit increase in the take up of our existing insurance products as compared to the previous year and we hope to improve that further by continuously bringing relevant products and services to our customers."

To subscribe to DiGi's Travel Protection Plan, customers need to SMS TRV to 2000 and follow the highlighted steps. Coverage begins immediately upon activation of the policy.
