Over 5,000 entries received to date for DiGi WWWoW Awards
Malaysia's first people's choice Internet awards welcomed by netizens

Shah Alam, 13 JUNE 2011: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") today revealed that nominations and voting for the DiGi WWWoW Awards are growing by the day. Netizens in Malaysia are urged to not to miss out on becoming a part of the first people's choice Internet awards for Malaysians by Malaysians

According to DiGi's Head of Marketing Services, Sulin Lau, "The viral response received for our Internet awards has been fantastic. It shows that this Internet awards is perfectly timed to accord due recognition to the many talented people in the social media sphere. The engagement level of our nominated Internet content creators and users as they campaign for more votes also demonstrates how much fun these extraordinary, talented Malaysians are having in using the Internet."

"In fact the competition is getting tougher with the 5,000 nominees we have recorded in the 7 week period since the nomination and voting kicked off. The blogs need all the votes that they can get in order to win. There have been 195,000 votes cast in the 7-week time period but all the nominees need many, many more. I urge everyone to vote for your favourites or submit more nominations as both are still open till 20 June this year," she added.

Since DiGi launched the awards in April 2011 to celebrate Internet for all, organisations such as Exabytes, Innity, and says.my have come on board as partners. The support from partners and Netizens have turned the DiGi WWWoW Awards into a viral buzzword. The hashtag #digiwwwow has been tagged thousands of times, the award name generates 3.14 million results on Google search, and the wwwow.my website has recorded over 500,000 visitors and 2,300,000 page views.

The DiGi WWWoW Awards is the first people's choice Internet awards for Malaysians by Malaysians. A collaborative project with ASTRO, Era.fm, Hitz.fm, Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Nuffnang, Lowyat.net, Malaysia Airlines, Mudah.my, Flickr, Karangkraf, Says.my, Exabytes, Innity and the Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), winners will be nominated and voted for by Malaysian Netizens.
