D'House recognised as Disabled-friendly Office Complex
Top honour given to DiGi by Malaysian Government

SHAH ALAM, 4 December 2007: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") headquarters, D'House in Shah Alam, was recognised as a disabled-friendly office complex at the Disabled-friendly Building Recognition Awards 2007 (Anugerah Pengiktirafan Bangunan dengan Kemudahan Akses OKU 2007) ceremony in Petaling Jaya today, held in conjunction with People with Disabilities Day 2007.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development to identify disabled-friendly buildings, which the general public have access.

The award was presented by the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, YB Dato' Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to DiGi Head of Corporate Administration Khor Choo Lin, The Corporate Administration Division is responsible for the daily maintenance of DiGi’s headquarters, D'House.

D'House was designed to visually represent DiGi's flattened organisational structure and key corporate values, namely Simplicity, Innovation and Transparency. This is naturally translated into an open office concept and mobile workforce within the building, with wide, open spaces and functional office features that are user-friendly to everyone, including people with certain disabilities.

Khor said, "This recognition was only possible because of our employees' positive contributions and commitment. Our workplace environment embodies DiGi's value system, which promotes a sense of openness, inclusiveness and respect. We hope our employees are triggered to transform themselves into individuals with open mindsets and be generous in spirit to accept differences in others."

"There is still a long way to go. Making structural changes is probably easier than creating dynamic mindset shifts in how staff, as an integrated community, values the contribution of all, regardless of how different we may be. But the award tells us that we're moving in the right direction. If we do it right and consistently, we can create more equal career opportunities for people with disabilities here at DiGi, and as an organisation, benefit from the efforts and contribution of all," she added.
