Charities received RM21,000 from DiGi's Bola! Bola! Bola! campaign
PCs, football goodies and cash for the less fortunate

SHAH ALAM, 23 JULY 2010: Over 100 orphans and underprivileged children received RM21,000 worth of personal computers, football goodies and cash from DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("DiGi") recently at the closing of its football campaign, Bola! Bola! Bola! Your Passport to Football Everywhere.

Some DiGi employees volunteered to help deliver the PCs, goodies and cash worth RM11,000 recently to the Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR) for girls only and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim/Miskin Klang (PEYAKIN Klang). The Hitz FM cruisers were roped in to entertain the children, whose ages ranged from 10 to 17 years old.

Two other charity associations, the Cleft Lip and Palate Association Malaysia (CLAPAM) and the Kiwanis Club of USJ in support of the Malaysian Rare Diseases Society (MRDS), received RM10,000 in total to help them in their respective awareness activities.

RACTAR and PEYAKIN were identified by DiGi to be recipients because of their long-term commitment to provide healthy learning environment for the underprivileged and orphaned children.

CLAPAM and the Kiwanis Club were selected by the campaign's radio partner, Hitz FM deejays, JJ and Ean, because of their dedication to support children and their families who suffer from rare diseases, cleft lip and palate.

Said Vimal Kumar, DiGi's Head of Corporate Responsibility: "We were pleased to have been able to extend the spirit of the tournament with the children and share some of the fun and excitement of the biggest event in the football calendar with them. It was an enriching experience for us, DiGizens, to have interacted with the children."
