Career History

Tan Sri Abdul Farid has accumulated over 30 years of working experience in banking and financial services industry, particularly in the areas of investment banking, commercial banking, and capital markets.

He had worked for several merchant and investment banks in various capacities, from Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd, Schroders Malaysia Ltd, Malaysian International Merchant Bankers Bhd, to JP Morgan Malaysia/Singapore.

Tan Sri Farid joined Malayan Banking Bhd in 2009 and has held several senior roles before taking the position of Executive Director/Group President & Chief Executive Officer for 9 years until his retirement in April 2022.  

Other Commitments

Tan Sri Farid currently serves the Board of Bursa Malaysia Bhd as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Skills & Experience

Tan Sri Farid holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Denver, USA, and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He also completed the Advanced Management Programme from Harvard Business School and is a Fellow Chartered Banker with the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers.
